WE SHAPE TECH and the Swiss Re Institute organised a joint event which was sold out early on – quite exceptional! The audience, approx. 250 mostly female and tech-educated, was energised and inspired by the open and insightful discussion. It was an honour to be a speaker for such a great event; hopefully something we can replicate in the future.

Siemens has been a strong leader in technology and innovation for over 170 years. One of the main pillars has been the connection of business and society. We genuinely believe in the business benefits and importance of gender equality, diversity and equal opportunities – and have focused activities to achieve this. So, we were really proud to host a role model event for We Shape Tech – an organization which promotes diversity in technology organizations.

The WST women approached me with the idea of "Coding Sessions for beginners", which immediately inspired me! Today, both partners Tamedia and Goldbach represented technology and advertising in a very diverse setting, which was very successful. Furthermore, the engaging coaches motivated a broader range of people to develop their coding skills and this event brought the partners together not only financially but also culturally.

As a tech-business in Zürich where we have more than 20 different nationalities between our employees, diversity is at our core. Besides this, the tech scene is growing so making sure that we are connected in all ends is important to foster our network and innovation DNA. Sponsoring a WE SHAPE TECH event is a pleasure because we not only can have our open doors to the community but also engage our employees into interesting people and topics.

I have taken part in WST events in the past, and decided to contribute to this community myself. With the workshop, we were able to show in a simple way how Machine Learning works to people with little or no technical knowledge while also getting user feedback on our new web application. I really enjoyed the work with the WST team.
