On 5 December 2023, the communities of Girls in Tech, TechFace and WE SHAPE TECH came together for a Xmas Community Celebration.

The lights were dimmed, the candles lit, the ornaments on the Christmas tree added a festive touch to the atmospheric Swiss Restaurant eCHo in Zurich – we were ready and excited for the guests to arrive.

Just after 18:00, the first guests started coming in from the wet and cold. The small reception at the beginning allowed everyone to ease into the festive spirit.

Representatives from Girls in Tech, TechFace, and WE SHAPE TECH took the stage, welcoming the assembled guests with a brief introduction into the essence of each community, setting the tone for the night – looking back on a year full of achievements and challenges, celebrating a collective commitment to diversity and inclusivity in the tech and innovation landscape. With the formalities behind us, it was time to indulge in the traditions of the season.
As the evening unfolded, familiar faces from our communities mingled seamlessly with new ones, creating a dynamic atmosphere of shared enthusiasm. Laughter and conversation filled the air, breaking the ice and setting the stage for an evening of celebration and connection.
The aroma of bubbling cheese wafted through the air as guests sat down at the tables adorned with festive decorations. The glow from the Christmas tree and the lights spread around the room cast a warm ambiance over the scene as everyone settled in for a delightful Swiss Fondue experience.

Homemade pickled vegetables and perfectly crunchy yet fluffy bread accompanied the savory Fondue.
The communal dining experience allowed for a natural flow of conversations, as individuals connected over shared interests, experiences, and aspirations. The tables became vibrant hubs of animated discussions.
It was a testament to the power of bringing like-minded individuals together, enjoying a sense of unity that transcended professional affiliations. And as the night progressed, the room echoed with the hum of collective inspiration. Those who had been part of previous events found joy in reconnecting, while newcomers discovered a welcoming community eager to embrace fresh perspectives.

The golden-white candles given to leaving guests as part of the festivities symbolized not only the warmth of the season but also the collective resolve to illuminate the path for a more inclusive future. The sparkler candles, aptly named wonder candles, served as a whimsical reminder to carry the festive spirit forward into the upcoming holiday season and the challenges and triumphs of the new year.
