The Soul of a New Machine

The Soul of a New Machine

For anyone who wants an understanding of the history of the American technology industry, this book is essential reading. That it is also an award-winning book – winner of both, the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award – shows that Tracy Kidder has struck a chord.

Since 1981, when The Soul of a New Machine first examined the culture of the computer revolution, computers have changed. What hasn’t changed is the feverish pace of the high-tech industry, the risk-taking approach to business that has led so many computer companies to great success (or bankruptcy), and the cult of pursuing groundbreaking technological innovations.

The Soul of a New Machine is an important chapter in the story of the machine that revolutionized the world in the twentieth century.
